Queer? No thank you.
Why is it unfashionable to say that "Homosexuality is wrong?"
And fashionable to say that "Homosexuality is only human?" "I love homo's!"
Why is discrimination based on people's sexuality equated to discrimination based on race? (or tribe, for that matter)
Why do the Western world die for 'freedom of speech/rights' then SHOUT! against the rights of majority of Nigerian's to pass a law that criminalises homosexual marriages? (note that this is different from actually having same sex outside marriage)
Why do 'queers' say they were born 'queer'.
My God.
Could it be...... that perhaps, they are right?
What the heck is 'queer' anyways?
Queer - according to Webster's dictionary
Pronunciation:
\'kwir'\
2 a: differing in some odd way from what is usual or normal b (1): eccentric , unconventional (2): mildly insane : touched c: absorbed or interested to an extreme or unreasonable degree : obsessed d (1)often disparaging : homosexual (2)sometimes offensive : gay 4b
Our (slightly crazy) Foreign Affairs Minister told the United Nations that there are no homosexuals in Nigeria.
“During our National Consultative Forum, we went out of our way to look for gay, lesbian and transgender groups but we could not come across Nigerians with such sexuality”, Madueke said. He further informed the audience that his ministry located only one woman of lesbian orientation and when invited to participate in a discussion on the rights of gay and lesbian persons, the lady informed his Ministry that she was pregnant.
Blatant lie of course.
But, do you blame him?
There was nothing he could have said that those 'oibo' people would not have used against him.
Why not say something stupid - a la Ahmadinejad (who said something similar once)?
If it is not clear yet, I am a Christian.
Oh, and I have broken all the 10 Commandments and a whole lot more.
With the exception of number 6 - murder and number 7 - adultery (adultery is fornication after marriage right?) At least not yet :P
Am I different or better than 'queers'?
I dare say, probably even worse.
Heck, homosexuality is not even listed in the 10 Commandments.
Does this justify it?
Does this make it right to be homosexual?
I think not.
So, while the Nigerian House of Assembly is deliberating this bill to criminalise gay marriages, they might as well start with criminalising the 10 Commandment + 1 infringements.
The +1 is for corruption.
By the way, the Naija Bloggers Award is still ongoing. Especially the male blogger section. *wink*wink*
Hop over and do your thing.

Officially 3rd...BRB
I don't think homosexuality is wrong, because I think everyone has the right to have a choice if they are not harming anyone.
If a man wants to sleep with another man to the point that they want to spend the rest of their lives with them, then what is the harm in that. The same goes for women.
Society likes to throw stones even when it commits and breaks all the rules itself. Very hypocritical.
People should learn to live and let live. Tolerance is what this world needs. There is enough trouble due to people not wanting something different to what they believe.
However life is a spectacle of mirages, we can't see everything at the same point of view.
Even god himself gave us free will so why must the hand of man be mightier?
That politician is just a talented man...so he only came across one lesbian woman in the whole of nigeria? lol!
Mr shirak..how is the mrs? Hope you have settled into your new home.

I totally believe homosexuality is WRONG...that doesn't make fornication RIGHT either...
I was created in my maker's image He doesn't like sturves like that...that is not to say I don't sin...but His grace is sufficient for me...
It is my opinion and I'm entitled to it abi?
Oh no...I'm not homo-anything-bic(homophobic)...all I know is, it's a live and let live world...
We don't have to see eye to eye on issues but we should learn to live together...No I can't understand the fact that "you were born queer"...lie of the devil...
But I will relate with you regardless...that's what my father did...HE hates sin but loves people....Am I rambling yet?
P.S

i have nothing against them, they should do what they want, they should not just bring it into church sha. no gay marriages or gay priests
I think the nigerian govt needs to concentrate on something that will better the lives of its people like..nepa and leave sexuality and wardrope alone...
i was discussing this issue tonight with a friend.
sometimes i see a gay couple looking so happy and all i want to think is "awwwwww, if thats what they want"
but then i know its wrong, i dont support it, but i'm not cussing at them for choosing to be who they are. its up to God to judge.
Nigeria has a shocking number of gays. especially in the north where homos reign. i'm beyond being shocked at seeing gays in nigeria....
maybe we as a country are trying to live in denial(obviously with the ministers comment)
but individually we know what goes on here.

I don't have an opinion one way or another on what homosexuality is. As much as I don't have an opinion on heterosexuality as well. I have an opinion on my OWN sexuality as in who I have it with, when and how... and that's all that should matter to each adult individual... I really don't get the idea of being for or against homosexuality. It may not be my thing but what should I care if X, Y and Z digs it?
Anyways, that's not even the issue. No human beings should be denied rights because of something they have no control over ie. skin color, homosexuality. Even if we decide that homosexuality is a choice, denying rights based on a preference will be like saying that men who prefer blonds can not be married. Which is crazy talk.
It's just stupid and silly to focus on trivial issues like what someone does in their bedroom when there are pressing issues like women dying in labor and kids dying of hunger.

the national assembly delibrating on passing bill on homosexuality is, as far as am concerned, misplaced priority. there r too many things needing attention n dis country. see NEPA. See Nitel. See d fall of Naira. See lack of jobs. Too many to mention! Abeg! When someone cannot tackle d big issues, they distract attention by focussing on d little dat would make them seem busy. All rubbish!!!
Personally, my opinions about homosexuality has been clear from d start & i don't mince words about it. IT IS WRONG!

I know some lesbian and gays in Nigeria and this Madueke a whole senator or was "it" a minister said we dont have this sexuality?
I dont fight for God on issues of peoples rights. If it's wrong it's up to God but if it's a right issue, then the people have got the right to be who they want to be...
Most of our leaders have mistresss and all and they are so quick to dismiss those that are not even talking about cheating their partners but that they want to be accepted for who they are...

Homosexuality is wrong: Lev 18:22......... and for people that say there were born like that...... very sad
That our minister should be given an award for truthfulness.....trust Naija, Naija no dey carry last
We all know Homosexuality is wrong, God speaks against it,God made us to be male and female.
Queer, queer ,queer
and no, I dont believe dem born some people 'queer', whoever is queer chose to be queer'. Life is about choices, we choose how we behave, even though our environment and upbringing might influence us.
I also agree with you, we need them senators to vote a bill on corruption...with the same passion they are pursuing homosexuality bill.

Beautiful Blog babygurl
def agree with you.. it's a sin, just like everything else, so let he who has no sin, cast the first stone.... or something like that...
Just because people should have the right of freedom to do as they please with their bodies, that don't make homosexuality right!
Just look at the way we were made physically - male and female, doesn't that spell it out?
I would tolerate homosexuals if I ever came across any but that don't mean I condone their lifestyle.

NNA CONGRATS O :-)
Hey bro. Congrats... Hopefully we'll get to see an acceptance speech in this styl which is uniquely yours.....
Hmmm homosexulity is a hard topic to comment on.
I didn't get too vocal with my personal opinions on this matter on my blog. But I think homosexuality is another perversion, like bestiality or necromancy. So I don't care what people want to say but homoerotic relations are perversions.
im so with u on this..i read something similar on anyaposh's blog..the issue of corruption, which is most likely to be the death of the country(GOD FORBID) hasn't been tackled yet and now they r trying to pass this bill..mscheew!
Well nothing is new under the sun(Ecclesiastes). Homosexuality existed even before there was Israel. Anyone who is gay basically is diametrically opposed to GOD in terms of marriage between a man & a woman. Therefore will always have the Almighty as his adversary, not even the devil and his cohorts.
If you examine the Bible just a little closely, you'd find that Christ is the very focus from the 1st to the last verse, consequently HE & the church (the Bride & Bridegroom) are the theme, certainly in this dispensation in the history of mankind & also in the eschatological dimensions.
So please pray & earnestly intercede for all those cut in this bondage, that they will see the Light & take their freedom in Christ the hope of all glory.
